Heart and Mind's Delight
For the beauty of each hour,
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light.

For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and mind’s delight,
For the mystic harmony
Linking sense to sound and sight.

-- Folliot Pierpoint
Most of my pages are dedicated to visiting specific places.  This page, however,
is all about sharing the gems from my 'Unused' folder.  When I'm putting a web
page together, I inevitably gather too many photos.  Since I can only make use
of a certain number on any given page, I delete the ones I didn't add --
except
for the pictures I like too much to discard.  This page contains some of my
favorite unused photographs.  I'm happy to finally give them a home.  The
page's title comes from an old hymn, "For the Beauty of the Earth," which
I found myself humming as I worked with these photos.

Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.

Beauty is whatever gives joy.
-- Edna St. Vincent Millay
Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful;
welcome it in every face, in every sky, in every flower.
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
The longer I live, the more my mind dwells on the beauty of the world.  I have tilled
the world's soil, I have gathered its harvest, I have waited upon its seasons.  I
have climbed its mountains, roamed its forests and sailed its waters.  And,
always, beauty has waited upon my goings and comings.
-- John Burroughs
