Little words are the sweetest to hear; little charities fly farthest and stay longest
on the wing; little lakes are the stillest; little hearts are the fullest and little
farms are the best tilled.  Little books are read the most and little songs are the
dearest loved.  When nature would make anything especially rare and beautiful,
she makes it little; little diamonds, little dews.  Life is made up of littles; day is
made up of little beams; night is glorious with little stars.

Little by Little
One of our cats is quite small.  She was the smallest kitten in the litter and now
that she's a year old, she's one of the smallest adult cats I've ever seen.  Her full
name is Itty Bitty Kitty Minnie, but, that being a little wordy for everyday use, we
just call her Kitty Minnie.  I tell her all the time that what she lacks in size, she
makes up for in sweetness.  I'm pretty sure she agrees.

When I read the quote that I've included further down on the page about little things
being the sweetest, I thought of Kitty Minnie and determined to devote this week's
page to the wonderful little things in life.  The fact that I'd already started searching
for photos of New Jersey for the page didn't influence my topic, though,
coincidentally, it happens to be the 4th smallest state in the union.

When most people think of New Jersey, they think of its cities, few people talk about
the beauty of its landscape.  I have to admit that I was surprised to find so many
lovely pastoral scenes.  From its mountains, to its forests, to its farmlands, to its
shore, New Jersey proves that great things often come in small packages.

But then, Kitty Minnie and I have known that all along.

The photos on this page were taken in New Jersey - since there were about the same
number of pictures from the shore and inland, I've divided them into two sections.
It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are
infinitely the most important.

Enjoy the little things because one day you may look back and
realize that they were the big things.

Sometimes the little things you do for others occupy the
biggest part of their hearts.

Everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing
that life is made up of little things.

A little more laughter, a little less worry.
