How about house floats instead? The "Krewe of House Floats" - houses, beautifully decorated, many professionally done by Mardi Gras float artists - have sprung up all over town and beyond. There are maps online, so you can take a tour if you're in the city. If you're away, just type "Mardi Gras house floats" into YouTube's search engine for a virtual tour.
